Brody's Winter Tent

 

Brody enjoys camping out in his tent since I moved

it to my desk by the window....

It's so delightful to see him there!

First Big Snowstorm

Looking out early this morning to see snow mounds

from overnight. That's the birdbath!

We have to make sure the birds can find their food.

Interesting Sightings this Week

A beautiful fox darted out in front of

our car and into the golf course...

 

My favorite is this Snowy owl on an Adirondack chair

towards evening last night.

Snowy Owl Sunday

The Snowy Owl landed on a telephone pole

with a row of starlings. 

Neither paid any attention to the other.

Peaceful...

Egrets

Excited to see the egrets are still here!

We thought they had all flown south....

Brody's New Toy

Brody was given a gift and he is a

happy boy!

First Monarch

Saw the first monarch in our garden today...

such a treat!

Relax with a Book

Nothing like reading in bed to relax!

Catching up

Autumn fills the air as nature prepares for winter...

Chippy found an overturned cup of sunflower seeds

and filled his cheeks and disappeared to store them.

 

 

 

A very young finch is finding food in our wildflowers.

 

 

I am seeing birds I haven't seen before in our garden.

I am not sure who this one is!

 

The hummingbird is still here finding nectar in 

unusual flowers.

 

 

 The chickadees are here there and everywhere!

 

A great blue heron fishes in an inlet...

and a favorite thing to do for us is to see the egrets

fly in early evening back to the safety of the island.

They are so majestic and graceful and fill us with

wonder!

The Magical Hummingbird

Always so happy to see the little hummingbird visiting

our garden flowers.

A sense of magic in the air!

Similarities

 

Yesterday morning these young ducks were sitting

on a log before plunging into the cove for a swim...

 

 

taking a walk on the beach these young surfers 

reminded me of the duckling!

 

Keeping cool

Brody is keeping cool on these relentless hot humid days...

he doesn't even wish to sit on the porch!

Resting and Nesting

Here's Brody sharing a nap with his little buddy

yesterday....

while outside in the broken arbor I could barely see

through the tangle of honeysuckle vines the

nest of the mourning doves...one of the babies

was visible from just the right angle.

The Hummingbirds are Back

So happy to see that the hummingbirds have 

returned to our yard!

You Know It's Spring

when Brody sits on the front porch

 and watches a chipmunk...

 and the chipmunk makes a run for the

front steps but changes it's course

in the blink of an eye!

Harlequin Ducks

Today was a beautiful day to walk along the

Marginal Way in Ogunquit.

A short distance in I noticed what appeared to

be some sea birds I had never seen before.

Sure enough and to our great surprise they were

Harlequin ducks!

What a treat!

Thinking Spring

Though it still looks and feels very wintry outside

I'm thinking of spring while I draw and paint!

First Day of Spring

Could this be the first day of spring?

Snow!

A large snowstorm  took this chipmunk by surprise,

he just woke up from hibernation a few days ago

and spring is tomorrow!

I noticed him in the garden sitting on the top of a

weeping mullberry.
