Remembering Ellie May

Since we lost our beloved Ellie May
on February 9, 2012
I have been thinking about her constantly.
The memory of her fills my heart with love
and I miss her dearly.

I have so many photos and
drawings of her that I hope to be able put together
to create a picture of her amazing life
from the first time I met her at a time when
she lived with someone else above
our gallery in 1993 and how she ended up with us.
Here is a little glimpse of Ellie May
when she was just a tiny kitten embarking
on a big adventure...
she met so many people along her journey
and this is for everyone who may have met her
and those who would have loved to have met her!

Sad News

Last night we lost our dearly beloved and amazing cat,
Ellie May.
She was nearly 20 years old and the memories of her
will be in our hearts always.
She touched so many people and animals!
She had an amazing personality and a life full of adventures
and I hope to be able to someday share them through my
art and words
to keep her memory alive.

We miss Ellie May so much and it was such an honor
to be able to be a part of her life...we learned so much from her!

Staying Put

How did she know...cats are so intuitive.
I really needed to finish a pet portrait soon
and it happens to be of a cat.
Ellie May sat on me this morning so I had no excuse to wander
away and get distracted with another project.

Somehow I managed to balance the drawing pad on
the arm of the chair while Ellie May sat on my lap.

I actually nearly finished it and I thank
Ellie May so much for her calm and steady presence
that helped to keep me focused!

Enjoying the Sun

The porch furniture has been rearranged
temporarily so that D can get to the spots
where the chipmunks have dug underground
holes. Last week as I was working out there
with Ellie May on my lap, I saw a chippy in
that corner and then he suddenly vanished!
Fortunately, Ellie May didn't notice.
We don't want any more surprises like that
for the safety of all!

Sorting

It's the time of year to sort through piles of
receipts, a very time consuming process.
It's nice having company for this tedious task!

by sitting on my lap.

What a team!

Do you have such diligent helpers?

What a Valentine!

I love to collect little heart shaped rocks whenever
I take walks on the beach...I feel a magical connection
whenever I find one camouflaged among all the other
rocks.
Well, this morning my hubby presented me with
one he found the other day while he was raking
seaweed at the beach.
WOW!
I was thrilled!

Sometimes the most unlikely things can fill
one's heart with joy!

Hope you are having a lovely day!

New Miniatures

Having always loved to work small with special attention
to detail, I've been inspired to do something
I have always loved to do, making miniature paintings.
I've always been drawn to tiny lines and intimate delicate watercolors.
I recently have been creating little originals once again.

I tried to have Brody help me to display them,
but it didn't work out.

Ellie May so kindly has volunteered to pose with
some of them!
I may call upon her to help me display more of them soon.

ps. if you should be interested in more info about
my art, you can always send an e-mail...
thanks!

Morning, Noon and Night Cats

It's always nice to be able to start the day with a
smile and Friday morning started out with a cat under a hat!

The afternoon brought Polly to the breezy porch...
so whenever I went back and forth from the studio to
the house I was greeted by sweet Polly.

Working at night in my studio, Ellie May snuggled
in close in her comfy basket...we kept each other company.

Cats sure do bring great joy, company, comfort and humor!

Another Rainy Night

It's been another day of rain and
gray misty skies...tonight I'm
working with the company of
my darling Ellie May.
Been making
pins for a craft fair... when I glance
over at her she looks so content!

Ellie May

I was running down the stairs in my studio
ready to head over to the house, when I caught
sight of Ellie May looking so comfy on the couch
with the portrait of her daughter, Polly.
It's been 15 years since Polly and Ellie May
were that close!
Polly lives in the house and Ellie May in the studio.
How we wish they could have continued to be
as comfortable and close to each other
as they were when Polly was a wee kitten.
They were separated when Polly was 8 weeks old
so they never really got to know each other.
Their story is to be continued another time....
in the meantime, here's a glimpse into their past...
