Need a Smile

Quietly Brody often  jumps up to sit with his friends
opposite my computer table. I often don't realize
he is there til I turn around.
He sure does make me smile!

Surprises

What a delightful surprise to spot the hummingbird
who blended in so well with the leaves in the tall
wild cherry tree.

Another surprise, glancing out the window at the
moment this catbird stopped to rest!

Loved noticing the shadow of the butterfly on the
dandelion...

About to step into the porch when this chipmunk caught
my eye...one never knows where they will appear!

On our evening walk last night we heard strange
calls coming from the birds in the ocean...
an unusual laughing sound not like the usual
call of the seagull.
They were Laughing Gulls so appropriately named.
It sure did sound like laughter!
Towards the end of our walk
an Black-crowned Night Heron flew
overhead  away from the
ocean.
So magical every time we see them.
To our great surprise, D noticed it
had landed in a little inlet on our
way home.

To be able to observe nature is
so very uplifting and inspiring.

Me and My Shadow

See the little chipping sparrow on the left side of the window...
who would have thought it was looking at itself!

This young sparrow seemed to think
there was another sparrow in the window.

It was fascinating to watch it flutter and glide along the edge
of the windowsill following the reflected image
of itself!

He visited the bird in the window often!

Mother's Day

This little chipmunk has been busily
scurrying around all day gathering
sunflower seeds from the bird feeder
on this Mother's Day and looked
quite happy!

I was very happy to have seen
the hummingbird for the first time
this year.

Wind In the Willow

After a week of rain, yesterday the
sun made brief appearances
through dark dramatic clouds.

To my delight the porcupine  could be
seen swaying in the wind in the willow
tree in our backyard enjoying the
willow leaves.

Painting the Indigo Bunting

On this cloudy afternoon I found myself
wishing to paint the Indigo Bunting.
This is a far as I have gotten but now
I must  pause  to think about how to continue
plus I need to make dinner!
