Night Heron

Autumn is in the air as the sun sets tonight
when the young night herons fly over to the
boats along the river to fish...

I had to look these up because I've never seen one in my area. It says they are common, but I've just never been lucky enough to see one. Unusual looking heron not at all like the long necked water birds I do see. I will keep watch from now on hoping to get a glimpse of one.
