To my total amazement, as we took a ride by the
ocean after a heavy rain and thunderstorm,
there in the ocean was something I had never
seen in person.
Gannets!
It was very exciting!

You seem to know so much about birds, Nan. I never even heard of gannets! The photos in this and your last post are beautiful!

thanks...I'm learning about them as I see them...luckily I have a bird identification book! A long time ago when we first opened our gallery, someone had requested a painting of a gannet. I didn't know what that was but found a photo in a nature magazine to work from at the time.
This was the first time I actually saw them in real life and am so glad that I could photograph them!
