A Sunny Day

Yesterday was cloudy and cool and we were
very worried about our dear Polly...
she seemed ill.
She slept all day and didn't eat
which is very uncharacteristic of her.

This morning I was so relieved to see her
greet me for her breakfast.
She went out on the back porch and when I
peeked out to see what she was up to, I was
touched to see her in a basket in the sunshine.

Perhaps she was being entertained by all of the
chipmunks we have running through the
garden this year and doing very funny things.

Ellie May, the cat and I love chipmunks!


Today was a chipmunk kind of day.
With the help of my camera,
I gathered these images from
which to draw at a later time.
These 2 very busy resident
chipmunks have learned how to
make the most of
our bird feeder and garden.
Luckily for them, Ellie May is an
indoor cat now.

It was an exceptionally warm morning
and after a walk on the beach and a stroll
through our garden, I settled down on the
porch to paint birds with Ellie May.

Painting Birds and Update

My supervisor, Ellie May, and I started
early this morning to work on
the drawings/ paintings of one of our
favorite subjects!

The Basket Cat

Ever since Polly was a tiny kitten she has
loved baskets. Here's a painting I made of her
when she was about 5 years old
in one of the kitchen counter baskets.
I actually did a series of drawing/paintings of
Polly and her buddy at the time, Pumpkin in
all of their baskets.
A few of the laundry basket cats can be seen
here. Pumpkin was the upsidedown orange (ginger)
cat!
