A Look Out the Window

Early morning, looking out the window
while snow lightly fell once again
and

the squirrels (little red and big gray)
took over the bird feeders.

Now the sun has appeared through clouds.

We think more snow is on the way for
tonight.

Two Red Squirrels

Now that the sunflower seeds have
been discovered, we have two red
squirrels visiting!

I think they will be here daily from now on!

I fell in love with their cuteness!

You can see a much larger view of this by clicking on the photo

Hope you enjoyed seeing them as much as I did!

Who's Living in the Attic?

This morning I heard sounds on the roof while
I was working upstairs in my studio.
Had noticed with the latest snowfalls, some tracks
on the roof...hmmm, who could that be!

As I looked out at the dolgo crab apple tree
beside the window, I noticed some goldfinches
eating the crab apples.

and then I saw her or him...
our red squirrel must have taken up residence
in the attic again for I have been hearing commotion
in the attic for quite some time and didn't know who
was up there. Several autumn's ago, Dave had blocked
the outside entrances to the attic but he evidently
missed something!

Our Resident Red Squirrel

I am always on the lookout for our resident
red squirrel. We have set out leftover apples
collected from our trees in the autumn for her
and she was enjoying this one yesterday.

In a blink of an eye, she scurried up into the
nearby pine tree to take cover.

One of my projects is to do a series of drawing/paintings
of these fascinating little squirrels.
