Josie's New Winter Entertainment

The other night I discovered a

cat app for the iPad.

It's a mouse that moves around the screen

and squeaks when one taps it.

Josie does like it. She demurely studied it

for quite some time, then gently tapped it.

She was so gentle it didn't make a sound.

Eventually we heard the squeak and even

saw her trying to bite it.

Looking Out For the Winter Wildlife

Josie is fascinated and excited

by what she observes outside her windows this winter.

I feel the same way….

We try to make sure the food for the critters doesn't sink

beneath the snow and squash seeds are a special treat.

First Painting of Josie

Josie has inspired me…here's my first ink & watercolor painting of her.

She has taken to hiding under a tiny table covered with a patchwork

  table cloth beside the bed.

It's like a tent and I placed  a pillow underneath  to make it comfy.

Josie loves her window...

she truly enjoys watching

the birds and critters that

visit daily.

An mild October day to enjoy the porch

but tomorrow may bring frost.

Turning Colors

As Autumn slips in 

this young house finch is turning colors...

September afternoon

A beautiful, clear cool day...

and I spotted this dragonfly who paused long enough

to capture its delicate beauty with my camera.

End of August

A lovely surprise in the marsh, a juvenile Night Heron

appeared briefly and vanished into the reeds.

In the evening, Josie ran to the window to stalk something.

I thought it was probably an insect the way she cautiously

crept up upon it. From my vantage point I couldn't see what it was

so I quietly went over to investigate.

Sitting on the outside of the window sill was a tiny frog.

It eventually climbed all over the outside of the window

and it was amazing to see how it stuck with suction as it 

traveled and we got a view of the underside.
