Rare Sightings

In the evening we took a walk along the
Marginal Way in Ogunquit, Maine.

Saw these ducks in the distance
and after referring to a Bird Identification book
realized they were Harlequin ducks.

Also, way in the distance a movement in the rocks
caught my eye and it turned out to be a Snowy Bunting.
Was fascinated and delighted to watch them!

Feels Like Summer but It's Spring

Spring and summer seem to have arrived together
and exceptionally early this year!

The chipmunks woke up and are scurrying around
and filling up on sunflower seeds...

birds are singing and we have heard the peepers
peeping from nearby ponds as night falls...

Brody loves sitting out on the porch
keeping an eye on the wildlife activity
in the yard.
He's seen the flying squirrels at night!

And to my surprise I saw this wonderful porcupine
way up in a willow tree.

Bees

This morning honeybees appeared for the first time
this year and of all the places they were checking
out it was strange to see them at the bird feeder!

Just last night the flying squirrels were there!

Over here the first crocus of the year appeared in
our yard.
These occurrences seem too early for Maine!

Night Time Surprise

D went out to get something out of the car tonight
and thought he heard the bird feeders moving.
In the darkness he caught a glimpse of these
flying squirrels and hurriedly called me out.
We have never ever seen them in our yard before.

Happy to be able to capture them with my camera...

Earlier I noticed something the gray squirrel
was enjoying, wonder if he can do commercials
for breakfast cereal.

The Critters

One of our many resident squirrels was enjoying
the delectable crabapples yesterday morning...

along with the finch

while the little adorable red squirrel
waited for an opening at the bird feeder...

as the more finches and chickadees dined in a circle.

New Art Work

My little desk is very full but it is good to work
here and I can feel that the spirit of Ellie May
is still in the air guiding and inspiring me wherever
I may be.

It is a comfort to have Brody visit me often
and sometimes I don't realize he is there!

just a glimpse of some new art prints...

A Delightful Birthday Party

My cat niece, Tiger, had a birthday party last week.
I was delighted to receive these photos of the
special occasion.

The table was set...

notice Tiger's cake with the candle?
(she has been a fussy eater when it comes to the
wet food but recently they discovered one kind that
she loves!)

The candle was lit and they didn't expect
Miss Tiger to be so enthusiastic about her "cake"
so they quickly extinguished the flame.

Here's one happy Birthday girl!

Where's Brody

For days I have been reorganizing my work spaces
in the house and studio. I find it's a good
distraction from my sadness and I'm accomplishing
something though it doesn't look too different
for I am still cluttered but it is organized clutter!

This morning I didn't realize Brody was in the room with me
(this has been happening lately)
until I heard a soft purring sound.
Upon turning around at my desk, this is what I saw.

Can't help but bring a smile...
looks like he is at an important meeting
with colleagues and everyone is hanging on
his every word.

Remembering Ellie May

Since we lost our beloved Ellie May
on February 9, 2012
I have been thinking about her constantly.
The memory of her fills my heart with love
and I miss her dearly.

I have so many photos and
drawings of her that I hope to be able put together
to create a picture of her amazing life
from the first time I met her at a time when
she lived with someone else above
our gallery in 1993 and how she ended up with us.
Here is a little glimpse of Ellie May
when she was just a tiny kitten embarking
on a big adventure...
she met so many people along her journey
and this is for everyone who may have met her
and those who would have loved to have met her!

Sad News

Last night we lost our dearly beloved and amazing cat,
Ellie May.
She was nearly 20 years old and the memories of her
will be in our hearts always.
She touched so many people and animals!
She had an amazing personality and a life full of adventures
and I hope to be able to someday share them through my
art and words
to keep her memory alive.

We miss Ellie May so much and it was such an honor
to be able to be a part of her life...we learned so much from her!
