For quite some time I have been listening to
a pair of house finches singing near the back
porch.
Yesterday, D spotted the nest, tucked up under
the eave of the porch.

Was so delighted to quietly observe these moments

Very nice tenants, Nan! That's an interesting nest too with the strands of stuff woven into it.
They have a snug and dry spot. It will be fun watching when the babies start to fly. Mom and Dad can show them the feeder;)

That is just way too cool to be able to get those photos.
I live with woods all around me so when they visit to eat they fly back to the woods.
Thanks for sharing so I could see them ...
Such pretty birds!
Aw, lovely! Nan, I was so inspired by your amazing garden, we 've had some trellis erected, and all day, I've been so busy weeding, potting-on, shovelling- you name it! My back is stiff now, so I'm going for a soak, then I think I might draw a Tiddles!
Your nest photographs are lovely.
I just love this time of year. We have Carolina Wrens in one of the flower baskets.

How lucky are you to have finches residing with you at your house? So happy about that!
Great pictures. I have lots of them back and forth to the feeders. I expect they are all nesting somewhere nearby. Lovely birds.
quiltcat, Marnie and JC,
It's fascinating to see how the nest is made..just hope the babies don't fall out when learning to fly...
Karen LR,
They make a beautiful couple!
PS. Congratulations on your Anniversary!
buskitten Liz, Thanks! Hope you don't overdo it working in the garden....D is very achy, too!
Q,thanks so much for stopping by...
Carolina wrens are so beautiful and to have them in a flower basket must be wonderful for you to watch and photograph...
Purple Flowers,
So happy you stopped by..I love birds and didn't realize their nest was so close by, our cat Polly spends much time on that screened in porch and her chair is under their nest.
oldcrow61,
good to hear from you!
