Looking through the window screen this morning, I was surprised to see this young red squirrel sentinel! This is the time of year that the red squirrel babies are old enough to be out on their own discovering their world!
Karen LR, I have learned to pretty much always keep my camera nearby for when I didn't have it, I always would see something and think, "I wish I had my camera!"
We have a baby squirrel but it's just the grey kind. He's (I think it's a he) is eating the bird food now. Makes for good Bird / Squirrel tv for Riley.
Hi, pardon me for just sort of dropping in from out of the blue, but I stumbled here somehow, saw your red squirrel, and thought you might like to take a quick look at another squirrely blog, if you haven't seen it already :
Owen, Thanks so much for dropping in...and thanks for the link to the lone grey squirrel for I haven't seen it before! I'll be visiting your blog soon!

That photograph is wonderful!
I like squirrels. I've always enjoyed watching them. Your photo is great! I'm used to the gray squirrels we have here. I've never seen a red one.
Purple Flowers, Thanks!
Carla,I love squirrels, too and the red ones are very small and fast!
JC, Do you have any red squirrels in your area? Our cats love watching the critters, too!
