Look before you leap! Something that is good for us all to keep in mind! Our little red squirrel didn't look before she leapt. She assumed that was another of the many birds that had been visiting the bird feeder this morning.
As she leapt towards the bird feeder, she landed in the arms of the big gray squirrel. They were both so startled and after a twirling encounter, little red dashed away in a flash.
My goodness, what a shock that must have been for both of them, especially the red squirrel!! In your pic you can really see what a size difference there is between the two kinds of squirrels. We've only got the big grey guys (and supposedly flying squirrels, but they're nocturnal and i've never had the pleasure of seeing one).
We are glad you're home from your trip! the kitties look none the worse for wear but we bet they missed you terribly! We've been catching up on your posts....Love that cat tent! So much wildlife and action in your yard!!
Hi there! Thanks for coming to visit me! I love the pictures on your page, I am going to read some of your old posts and look at the pictures. I see you have some gingers like me, would they like to join the Gorgeous Gingers? I will come back to look at some more beautiful pictures (we especially like the one of Polly gazing at her dad).
quiltcat, not only were the squirrels shocked, I was as well! It happened so fast, I think I screamed as I watched through the window with my camera. They were both fine. The red squirrel is very small and that is the one that was saved from the attic of my studio and raised by a friend who knows how to do such things and then released back into our yard in the late fall. Am so thankful she has survived so far! She had imprinted on people but it is clear to see she has learned the ways of being a squirrel.
Shaggy, Scooby and Scout, Thanks for stopping by and catching up! The kitties seemed fine with just my husband with them for the month but now that I'm back, he can see a difference in behavior, especially, Brody ( the ginger and white) who is very attached to me. We rub our faces together quite often! There are so many birds at the bird feeder and such variety. I've never seen it so busy! I have a tendency to watch them toooooo much and have taken so many photos with the intention of working from them for my art. I'd better start drawing soon! That tent continues to be one of Brody's favorite places...he is so funny in it and I will try to take a movie to post...
Fat Eric, Am so happy you visited. I have loved visiting you for quite some time but was too shy to leave a note. Would love to join the Gorgeous Gingers...Brody fits the bill! How do we join? Thanks for the invite! Hope you can stop by again soon!
best wishes to all, Nan and Ellie May, Polly and Brody
Marnie, It always amazes me how fast the squirrels are as they can almost fly from tree to tree. I often hold my breath when I see them do such acrobatics!
