A Special Visitor in the Garden

D called me over to the garden as I
climbed the front steps to go into the
house this evening.

He was carrying something and set it
down. To my surprise it was Kita Cat!

It was several years ago in the late autumn
when we first set eyes upon Kita in our garden.
At the time, we thought she was a stray.

While experiencing bitter cold weather, we
called everyone we could think of in the neighborhood
without success and nearly found a home for her when
her family contacted us and we discovered her story.

Kita lives behind the houses across the
street in a horse barn and when she was taken back to
her abode we had hoped that she would
not wander, especially at night.
We've heard coyotes calling in the middle of the night
and there's other dangerous wildlife in the woods.

Since that time she hasn't visited much so when we do
occasionally see her we're delighted but at the same time
worried and hope that she will stay safe.
She is one of the friendliest kitties I've ever met.
When she first visited us in the fall of 2007,
she loved to sit on D's back as he was working on our house
and gardening on his hands and knees! She would look
over his shoulder!

Here' some photos from 2007:

Hello Kita! i share your concern for her, Nan, crossing the street and being out with bigger nocturnal predators. Sounds like she needs to be a pampered indoors kitty, especially given how sweet she is. And D is quite special to let her sit on him while he's trying to work.

What a sweet cat. Judging from the way she's sitting on D's shoulder, I think she wants to own you guys, lol.

Oh she is so lovely! I think her name's great too 'Kita Cat', that's fab! I have just spent ages cleaning the car and polishing it, and now there are mudding little Bacon paw prints all over, inside and out! Haha, wee kitties, you gotta love them!

What a sweet, pretty thing. Calico is supposed to be good luck. Hope that luck stays with Kita.

quiltcat and oldcrow61,
When we first met Kita in the fall of 2007, we thought that this is a cat who crave the attention of people and deserves to be living in a home instead of a horse barn. She is definitely a people cat! If our little home wasn't full of cats, we probably would have invited her in forever! It was easy to fall in love with her but upon meeting the couple who care for her, we could see they were concerned about her well being, too.
I still hope she isn't out wandering at night.

Buskitten Liz,
She is a beautiful and very playful cat! Oh, there's nothing like little muddy pawprints all over your newly cleaned car! Reminds me of when we had our gallery in the tourist area and Ellie May and her son Walter would chose the most expensive parked cars to sit on and they would also leave muddy paw prints as a calling card!

Marnie,
I had also heard that calico is good luck and sometimes called money cats! I do hope she has good luck always! Funny thing, when we first met her in Oct. of 2007, we felt like she brought us good luck in the way of a few really good customers for my art. We could sure use that now!

Hi Nan:
I would normally reply to you as a post on my blog. Thank you so much for your comments about my kitty cat Leo. He is 15 years young, and looks very much like your Ellie May - how cute.

Your drawings are beautiful. How fortunate you are to be an Artist, and have that special talent!
I am going to visit your other blog site when I have alittle more time.

Stop by anytime.
Sincerely,
Kathy www.purpleflowers.blogspot.com
