We have made a shelter and restaurant for our resident red squirrel. The menu consists of pears, apples, sunflower seeds, hazelnuts and pine cones! Looks like the pears and sunflower seeds are her favorites.
Lovely, we make these too, and houses for bugs and insects for the winter. I also don't cut the garden back too much, as the plants are a nice place for wildlife to hide in the colder months!
buskitten, Our yard is very natural and rambling and hopefully provides safe places for the wild critters. We haven't seen the little red squirrel for several days and we think and hope that she has joined a group of other red squirrels in the far back corner of our yard and that they can keep each other warm! There's a hollowed out tree back there.
I'm an artist/illustrator specializing in ink and watercolors and photography. My little studio in Maine is nestled in our garden by a babbling brook. Everyday I draw inspiration from the pets who have touched my life, our garden, birds and wildlife critters, quaint old houses, children, shells, scenes of the seaside and more.
Hope to share my art and observations with you and don't forget to take a moment to notice the precious little things around you.
