Green Eyes, My Childhood Toy Cat

Buskitten recently posted her lovely old toys on
her blog and they reminded me of my
'Green Eyes', my favorite stuffed animal toy
that I've managed to keep with me since 3rd grade.

Green Eyes went through alot with me and
in 4th grade instead of counting sheep at
night to fall asleep I would
softly recite
math multiplications to Green Eyes
hoping that I would remember them!

I grew up in a family without pets and never
realize how much cats would
become a part of my life when I became an adult!

Here's one of my first attempts with
watercolors
when I was a child!

Do you still have any favorite childhood toys?

Hi Nan,
Oh, Greeneyes is beautiful! Isn't it funny about old things? I find myself now almost shunning the world of fancy all-singing all-dancing mobile phones, coffee makers, microwaves....ad infinitum! I'm much more in to the simple approach these days. Of course I have my laptop and scanner and all that gubbins, but I do prefer to embrace minimal technology! (I don't understand it for one thing!)
I will post some more of my 'simple things' on my blog, as it's great to get people's reactions, and then see their things on their blogs, such fun!
Gosh, it's so cold here today, the frost hasn't thawed all day, so I am snuggled up with a cup of tea and my feet on a hot water bottle (another brilliant thing!).
I'll get a nice sunday lunch on shortly, roast chicken, roast potatoes and delicious veg! Mmmmmm!
Hope you are nice and warm,(all our pusscats are in, so it must be cold!)
Best Wishes,
Liz

Hi Nan. Greeneyes is beautiful! And how sweet that you have her posed with one of your kitties (that inspired me to take a similar picture of one of my kitties with my teddy).

~waving~ to Liz. Your Sunday lunch sounds delicious! It's a little bit warmer here today, but dreary, rainy. Something hot and comforting to eat sounds good.

By the way, your early watercolor is wonderful!

I had a teddy bear named Arthur Godfrey;) Wish I still had him. I would sing him lullabies and tell him secrets.

Hi Nan,
Thanks for the message - my ibook is actually quite old, we got on ebay, but it works great, and I'm slowly getting used to it and moving my drawings off here on to it. The main problem (there are about 1000 every time I try and do something!) is that I can't seem to install my printer. It's a brand new printer, so there shouldn't be any problems, but when I put the cd thingy in, i says mac doesn't support it (or something...
Some people on another forum I post on said not to wory, just plug in the usb and mac will 'find' the printer....well it didn't, and nothing happens.
So, I thought, maybe I need to go on the net and download Epson printer software for a mac and then it will work????
Oooooh, so frustrating!

Anyway, if your husband can help, it would be fab! Oh, the mac isn't on the net yet, as I've no idea how to that either! It's something to do with airports and cards, but I haven't got them yet! Yikes!

Thanks Nan!

Buskitten,
D is out at the moment but I will show him your post about problems with transferring to the mac and printer etc. and maybe he will write to you or I will try to relay the message!

I have been using very old macs from ebay and I love them!

Roses and Lilacs,
I know what you mean about missing your old teddy bear, Arthur Godfrey.
I wish I would have saved more but am thankful Greeneyes survived all these years! I used to talk to him at night!
Amazing what a companion they can be!
best wishes,
Nan
