Deep Freeze

The cold air is moving in!

This sparrow is all fluffed up trying to keep warm...

The squirrel was busy looking through the snow
for possible food, looks like he or she was about
to say something!

It's supposed to get much colder over the next 3 days.
In Maine tonight it is 3 degrees.
Here in Connecticut at my parent's home, it's about
15 degrees.
What's it like where you are?

Hey Nan! What type of camera do you use for these fantastic shots of wildlife? Is it a DSLR? They are beautiful photos. It's not particularly cold here in Scotland, but gray and 'dreecht', as the Scots say, which means bleak - which it is! But, not long til the spring, thank goodness!

Buskitten,
Aren't you lucky to avoid the cold bitter weather and to think spring is around your corner! I do love the winter when it is snowy and one doesn't have to travel!
take care!

Our big cold frosty snap in the UK finished a couple of nights ago, so it's warmed up a bit. The birds are going through the seed we put out so quickly, poor things. There are signs of tiny buds on some bushes already, which is strange, it's far too early and it's been far too cold!

Hi Nan, it's bitter here, -13 and it won't get above -5 all day. Supposed to get worse tomorrow. The weekend looks better. Stay safe and warm.

Hi Nan. It's cold here (it was 20 degrees this morning and not due to get much warmer, then down into the single digits tonight) but not nearly as cold as you're having! We also had a tiny little dusting of snow...and my county delayed school for two hours! "Southreners" just don't know how to deal with snow.

Everycat, am glad you cold snap has ended...amazing to think of buds appearing this early in the winter...that would be disastrous for the plants here. The weather sure seems to be more extreme.

Marnie,
Wow,that is cold! I think tonight may be our coldest night.
Stay warm!

quiltcat,
The snow never reached us! Sounds like you had more than us!

Nan, you are right, if we get another cold snap (we sometimes get snow in April) then so many trees and bushes are going to be set back badly - poor things!

Everycat,
Even the birds are confused...saw robins today and they used to be a sign of spring...it is much too early for them to be here with the coldest temperatures of the winter so far.
take care!
