Today I was inspired to paint one of the fluffy round sparrows dwelling in the birdhouse under the overhang of my parents' house. I find roundish birds irresistible! ( as do Ellie May =^..^=, Brody =^..^= and Polly =^..^=!)
Beautiful painting, Nan! Yes, I love 'roundish' little birds too - and likewise our cats! This is the one thing I wish they wouldn't do, as it's very upsetting. We amange to rescue quite a few from Bacon's mouth, but Bob and Magic eat them, which is awful. We have jingly bells on the two big ones to try and stop it, but Bac gets upset if he has a kitty collar on (baby!)
Buskitten, that is always a worry with cats and birds...I feel the same way you do. Fortunately, our cats are indoor kitties so they have to admire our feathered friends through windows. Though occasionally a bird manages to fly inside our screened in porch and if Ellie May happens to out there at the same time there could be trouble! In Nov. I had just let Ellie out on the porch and about 5 minutes later I went to check on her and noticed her gaze was focused on the ceiling. I looked up to see a wren who was trapped on the porch, so I scooped Ellie May up as quickly as possible and set her inside.
I'm an artist/illustrator specializing in ink and watercolors and photography. My little studio in Maine is nestled in our garden by a babbling brook. Everyday I draw inspiration from the pets who have touched my life, our garden, birds and wildlife critters, quaint old houses, children, shells, scenes of the seaside and more.
Hope to share my art and observations with you and don't forget to take a moment to notice the precious little things around you.

Nan, that's a lovely sparrow. I've had them get into the house thru the vent. Absolute chaos!
