great picture of the squirrel, Nan! i have lots of squirrels hanging around my feeder, too (especially 'cause i just refilled it yesterday, hearing that bad weather was on its way, although ours looks like it's going to be only rain).
hi quiltcat, the snow started later in the afternoon... haven't seen many squirrels or birds... they are hiding out somewhere but this squirrel briefly appeared and looked so cute! I'm still in Conn. Won't be going home this weekend. Glad you're not getting freezing rain. Nan
Hi Parker, It's so nice to meet you, too! The squirrels in my parents neighborhood appear very different from the ones we see in Maine. They look very well fed and have lovely colors in their coats! Back home in Maine, we have a some red squirrels that are very special to us. There's a story behind them! Thanks for visiting! Nan
We got a bunch of snow today too. Now it's supposed to go sub zero until Saturday. We can see the neighborhood squirrels stealing food from our neighbors bird feeder. We think they get more seed than the birds do!
Hi Nan! Ooh, it sounds really cold there - it's not so bad here, but some days are very grey and dismal, which I don't like. I tend to stay indoors and hibernate! The poor little red squirrels are really endangered here, due to the pox virus; I did quite a lot of red squirrel monitoring last year for an organisation called 'Red Squirrels in South Scotland', interesting stuff, and we do we can to help save them.
Hi Marnie, Shaggy, Scooby &Scout, & Buskitten, thanks for writing and we are now getting the super cold weather, I can hear the wind howling outside the window. I hope it is not too harsh on the wildlife and they can find shelter and food. Stay warm everyone! Nan and =^..^=
I'm an artist/illustrator specializing in ink and watercolors and photography. My little studio in Maine is nestled in our garden by a babbling brook. Everyday I draw inspiration from the pets who have touched my life, our garden, birds and wildlife critters, quaint old houses, children, shells, scenes of the seaside and more.
Hope to share my art and observations with you and don't forget to take a moment to notice the precious little things around you.
