Ever since Polly was a tiny kitten she has
loved baskets. Here's a painting I made of her
when she was about 5 years old
in one of the kitchen counter baskets.
I actually did a series of drawing/paintings of
Polly and her buddy at the time, Pumpkin in
all of their baskets.
A few of the laundry basket cats can be seen
here. Pumpkin was the upsidedown orange (ginger)
cat!
I may post a few more in this post a bit later.
What are favorite spots for your kitties?

My cats have different sleeping places for days and evenings. They all want to be on the bed with me at night. During the day Hocus sleeps in the big basket in the dining room. Miss B sleeps where ever he is. At night he sleeps on the pillow beside my head and again B is wrapped around him for heat. Cheers is on the hardwood floor right in front of the hot air register;) There are plenty of pillows but she ignores them. Toby doesn't have time to sleep, to much mischief to get into;)
I should try to find some old photos of our Pumpkin. A big, round red tabby with a wonderful disposition.
Marnie
Marnie,
I'd love to see photos of your Pumpkin!
Isn't it funny where they all sleep!
Hocus and Miss B sound like good buddies.
When Polly and Pumpkin were together ( we lost him in 2004), we had two of the same baskets all over the house...they sometimes looked like bookends! We would notice when one would move on to another spot, the other would take over the vacated spot. Also, they had different spots according to the season as well as time of day, like yours! Polly still does that.
What beautiful paintings, Nan. I love the softness of your work and your realistic depictions of animals.
Our Kristy has a basket on an ottoman in the corner of our living room, a bed on our family room sofa, and travels around the house all day seeking the sun's rays on pillows, chairs, whatever!
Scooby, Shaggy & Scout are more conventional. Bed, sofa, or a sunspot on the floor.
Judy, thanks so much for your comment about my art. I just love the ways cats choose to settle into places.
I find myself always wanting to make sure they are comfortable.
Shaggy, Scooby and Scout,
those are all good places!
Lovely paintings. You capture the cats beautifully.
